Polly Smith was born 1790 in Connecticut, daughter of Ira and Rachel Smith. David Alden and Polly were married around 1814. They had the following children: Betsey, Gilead, Israel H., Lucy Ann, Polly, Almeda, Smith David, William Bradford, Asa, and Charlotte. They can be followed through the census from 1820 to 1865 in Windsor Broome County, NY. David is listed as living with his son Smith David in Lee Township, Fulton County, Illinois in the 1870 Census. We have been to Broome County, NY, Susquehanna County Pennsylvania, and could find no evidence of the burial of David or Polly. It is our assumption both came to Illinois after 1865 to live with Smith David and both are buried without a marker in Virgil Cemetery.
